Bob’s Machine Shop has introduced a new line of jack plates designed specifically for smaller boats with lower-horsepower engines. The lightweight Mini Jacs, available in three models, offer a smaller footprint while accommodating engines up to 50 horsepower. High-performance boaters, fishermen, and pleasure boaters who navigate shallow waters will benefit from the speed, improved fuel economy, and better handling that these jack plates provide.
The standard Mini Jac weighs 28 pounds and features the same dimensions as BMS’s regular jack plates, fitting the standard BIA bolt pattern with 6 inches of hydraulic lift. A narrower model, weighing 25 pounds, is suitable for smaller boats with clamp-on style motors and also provides 6 inches of lift. The smallest Mini Jac, weighing only 18 pounds, is ideal for small Gheenoe-style boats with clamp-on engines, offering 4 inches of hydraulic lift and supporting engines up to 40 horsepower. All Mini Jacs feature a 5-1/2 inch setback. These jack plates utilize hi-tech bearings that resist water absorption and unique automobile-type grease fittings. Additionally, BMS mounts their hydraulic pumps inside the boat to reduce transom weight and minimize exposure to elements, particularly in saltwater environments.
